Q: Are patients completely unconscious during oral conscious sedation
visits?
A: No. Oral conscious sedation is much safer and less costly than traditional
IV sedation. You will be in a state of complete comfort and relaxation. Oral conscious
sedation enables patients to respond to physical and verbal stimuli, while remaining relaxed
enough to be unaware of the treatment, as you would if they were asleep. Again, the next
day patients have very little or no memory of their visit.
Q: Will I feel pain during my oral conscious sedation visit?
A: Most patients feel no discomfort whatsoever during their treatment
and feel surprisingly good afterwards. Patients are extremely comfortable and may even
snooze through the visit. The next day patients have very little or no memory of their
visit.
Q: How am I monitored during the oral conscious sedation visit?
A: Yes, dental sedation patients have their own personal female dental clinician
present at all times, in their own private comfortable room, at Netzley Dental. You are never
alone. Dr. Netzley monitors one and only one sedation patient at a time. Dr. Netzley has
every sedation patient's blood pressure, pulse rate and oxygen levels monitored constantly
by machine for extra safety and peace of mind. You will receive the dental team's full
attention during your visit.
Q: Will someone need to accompany me?
A: Patients need a companion to drive them to our office before the visit,
and afterwards, to drive them home; because of the drowsy results of Triazolom.
Q: What length of time are the oral conscious sedation visits?
A: The time of sedation visits can vary, depending on the complexity and
amount of dental treatment completed. Sedation visits can be used for long complex visits
or for short "routine" treatments. Times often range from 2 to 8 hours.
